NEW DELHI, DEC. 22. Air and train services were again disrupted in the Capital last night and early this morning due to fog. As many as 10 domestic and three international flights bound for Delhi were also diverted to Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Mumbai as fog made landing difficult in Delhi.

The Airports Authority of India said while the Runway visibility Range at 9-42 p.m. last night was 450 metres, it went up to 1,500 metres at 10-30 p.m. But then it dropped to 400 metres by 11-30 p.m. as fog thickened and between 3 a.m. and 6-30 a.m. the RVR remained between 250 metres and 300 metres thereby disrupting flight operations.

In this period four domestic flights of Jet Airways, three of Air Sahara and two of Indian Airlines along with a Blue Dart courier flight were diverted away from Delhi. Likewise, two international flights of Air India and one of Indian Airlines were diverted to Mumbai.

The first flight to take off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport was that of Indian Airlines (IC 803) which took off for Bangalore at 7 a.m. when the RVR was 475 metres.

Meanwhile, Jet Airways said its outgoing flights on Tuesday night were detailed due to fog and normal operations only resumed at 8 a.m. today.

The departure of its flight 9W 332 to Mumbai was delayed by two hours and two minutes and it took off at 8-48 a.m. Similarly, the first Jet Airways arrival was of the 9w 822 flight from Chennai which arrived at 9-55 a.m. as against the scheduled arrival of 9-30 a.m.

The airlines said it also could not operate six flights, including an international flight to Kathmandu, due to bad weather over the region.

The train services were also adversely affected by the fog and half-a-dozen trains were cancelled while 50 trains were delayed due to poor visibility. Trains that were cancelled on Wednesday included Magadh Express, Saryu Yamuna Express, Janta Express, Farakka Express and Kalka Mail, while those that ran behind schedule included Chennai Rajdhani Express, August Kranti Rajdhani Express, Delhi-Patna Jansadharan Express, Shramjivi Express, Kerala Express, Kashi Vishwanath Express, Jharkhand Express, Andhra Pradesh Express, Tamil Nadu Express, Nauchandi Expres, Kalka Mail, Farakka Express, North East Express and Gomti Express.
