Women power bends him

By Our Staff Reporter

NALGONDA, DEC.22. Bowing to pressure exerted by the Mahila Sangham, K. Srinu, who disowned his lover, on Wednesday finally agreed to marry her.

Srinu, a small time moneylender, made a U-turn following the girl's decision to squat in front of his house in Puttapaka in Samsthan Naraynapur mandal. "I have decided to tie the knot since she claims that I was in love with her, '' he told reporters.

Asked why he had argued that he did not have any relationship with the girl, Srinu said: "Though we fell in love, I did not have any physical relationship with her.'' Srinu said he would neither take dowry nor harass the girl after the marriage.

Meanwhile, the Naryanapur SI, P. Madhusudan Reddy, told The Hindu that he filed a cheating case against the boy after receiving a complaint from the girl.

The boy's family budged and participated in talks with the girl's relatives after the police filed the case against him, sources said.

The date and venue of marriage are not yet announced.
