The processional deity, Namperumal, clad in `rathnangi', was taken in procession across Paramapathavasal early this morning. Namperumal was taken out of the sanctum sanctorum at 4 a.m. and

He crossed Paramapathavasal an hour later, to the chants of "Ranga, Ranga" by the devotees.

After `sadara mariyathai' in the forecourt of the thousand-pillar hall, the deity was taken to the Thirumamani Mandapam. The presiding deity, Lord Ranganatha, was draped in Muthangi (a coat of pearls).

Part of `Tiruadhyayana utsavam,' Vaikunda Ekadasi saw devotees from various parts of the country throng Srirangam over the past couple of days. Milling crowds gathered in the sprawling temple complex from Tuesday night and serpentine queues were seen in the early hours of today.
