HYDERABAD, DEC. 22. The city police on Wednesday arrested six persons, two of them financiers, on the charge of kidnapping an autorickshaw driver and collecting high rate of interest on money loaned to him. A resident of Saidabad, Abdul Aziz, had taken a loan of Rs. 10,000 from two brothers -- Imtiyaz and Liyaqat -- who were into financing, some time ago, a press release said. The duo had given him Rs. 7,500 after deducting Rs. 2,500 towards interest. They asked Aziz to pay Rs. 100 a day for 100 days towards repayment of the total loan amount. Aziz managed to pay Rs. 100 a day for 45 days and again took a loan of Rs. 1,000. He was given Rs. 750 after deducting Rs. 250 towards interest. He was supposed to repay the amount at the rate of Rs. 20 per day for 50 days. However, he paid Rs. 420 after 21 days and was unable to repay the rest.
Victim tortured?
On December 4, Aziz was kidnapped by four persons -- Khan, Pasha, Aqueel and Singh -- from Chattabazar allegedly at the instance of Imtiyaz and Liyaqat and wrongfully confined to a farmhouse at Mangalpally village, on the city fringes. They reportedly tortured and released Aziz after taking an assurance from him that he would pay them Rs. 20,000. On receipt of a complaint from Aziz, the Hyderabad Police Task Force (South) team raided the office of brothers and nabbed all the six persons.
