BPL Mobile to expand network
COIMBATORE: BPL Mobile has planned to invest Rs. 75 crores for rolling out 100 cell sites within the next 100 days as part of its ongoing network expansion plans, the Chief Operating Officer (South), K. A. Mohammed Saleem, told newsmen.
Thirty-five cell sites would become functional within a fortnight to give the subscriber a feel of a seamless network. Sixty per cent of the cell sites would be in the existing markets while the rest would be to include new areas. Launching services in new towns with a view to expanding its footprint across the State would be in a phased manner, said K. R. Suresh Kumar, Chief Operating Officer of BPL, rest of Tamil Nadu circle. The subscriber base has grown from 1.90 lakhs in 12 months and has touched 3.82 lakhs now.
