Young Army

Sir, — This refers to the editorial, `For a young army' (Dec. 22). But promotion alone is not the answer. Offers from the private sector are too attractive. The Government can take steps such as exempting service personnel from Income Tax (which eats away 30-40 per cent of their pay), giving LTC every year (instead of once in two years), etc.
