Kalam condoles Paintal's death

NEW DELHI,
DEC. 23.
The President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, has condoled the death of the former Director-General of the Indian Council of Medical Research, A.S. Paintal, here on Wednesday.
In a message sent to his family, Mr. Kalam said, "Dr. Paintal's contribution to medical research particularly in the field of health and disease have had a great impact in the treatment of a variety of heart and lung diseases. The techniques introduced by him are being used in numerous laboratories around the world. A multi-faceted personality, he contributed immensely to the medical field particularly during his tenures as Director, Vallabhai Patel Chest Institute, and later as the Director-General of Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi ."
