AEPC plea to Customs

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUPUR, DEC. 23. The Apparel Exports Promotion Council (AEPC) has asked the Customs authorities to clear the textiles and readymade garment cargo destined for quota countries without Quota Certificate/Visa/Export Certificate.

The AEPC Senior Director, Arvind Pradhan, in a letter sent to the authorities recently, has cited the Textiles Ministry's instruction to the Customs authority, which said, "the textile quota-free regime is coming to an end on January 1, 2005 and from this date, there shall be no requirement of Quota Certificate/Visa/Export Certificate from the AEPC, The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council and the Synthetic & Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council."

The Tirupur Exporters Association has circulated copies of the above letter to its members.
