ERODE, DEC. 23. Group houses will be constructed for poor tribals with the funds granted under the Scheduled Tribal People Economical Development Scheme. The State Government had allotted Rs. 33.77 lakhs to Erode under the scheme, the Collector D. Karthikeyan, said, when he was visiting the Guthiyalathur forest settlement area in Kadambur forest recently. The Collector inspected the lands given to tribals at Kanakundur and Solathur tribal areas. He also visited Kuttarathotti and Parampatty tribal settlements, where lands would be distributed to tribals.
House site pattas
In Kanakundur and Solathur tribal areas, 133 house site pattas were already distributed, he said. More pattas would be given to other needy tribals. To save them from the attack of wild animals, electric fences were erected in some places. Solar power streetlights were installed in other tribal settlements, where there was no power supply. The district administration was rendering all possible help to educate tribal children. He urged the tribals to send their wards to schools regularly. All dropouts would be enumerated and re-admitted in schools.
Medical van
A medical van was visiting all tribal areas and rendering all help. Free medicines were distributed. He wanted the tribal people to approach him with their genuine grievances. The Sub Collector, Gobichettipalayam, S. Samayamurthy, and officials from the Adidravida Welfare Department accompanied the Collector.
