2,500 schools closed in Thailand

BANGKOK, DEC 23 . More than 2,500 schools in the three Muslim majority southern provinces of Thailand will remain closed indefinitely from today because of the ongoing violence which claimed several lives including two teachers. ``We will suspend our classes until the situation has markedly improved,'' an official said. The decision to close the schools in the three provinces, including the restive Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala was taken after the fatal shooting of two teachers on Tuesday. — PTI
