HUBLI, DEC. 23. Prahlad Joshi, MP, has expressed concern over what he terms indifference of the State Government and the South Western Railway in making out a case before the Forest Advisory Committee of the Union Ministry of Forests and Environment for procuring forestland for the Hubli-Ankola railway line. In a letter to the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, Mr. Joshi expressed disappointment over the lack of progress made by the two agencies even after the Forest Advisory Committee gave time to the Government and the South Western Railway to present their case.
Meet
The Forest Advisory Committee, Mr. Joshi noted, will meet on December 27 and there has been no move by the State Government or the South Western Railway to make out a case seeking the release of forestland for the project. Mr. Joshi noted that the letters he had earlier written to the Chief Minister in this connection evoked a "laconic reply." Mr. Joshi alleged that the Forest Department of the State Government is indifferent to the issue. He blamed the Secretary to the department in this regard and urged Mr. Singh to transfer the official, if necessary, to ensure that the department takes the matter seriously.
