Funds sanctioned for road works

By Our Staff Correspondent

MADIKERI, DEC. 23. Karnataka Road Development Corporation Ltd. (KRDCL) has sanctioned Rs. 266 crores for laying the Mysore-Madikeri-Mani road, according to the Madikeri MLA, K.G. Bopaiah, here on Thursday.

Mr. Bopaiah told this to presspersons over phone from Bangalore. KRDCL has also agreed to sanction Rs. 6 crores to take up the Madikeri-Virajpet-Makutta road work and construction of a bridge across the Cauvery at Siddapur. Various organisations had blocked border roads at Makutta, Kutta, Maldare and Anechowkur a few days ago, protesting against the poor state of roads.

NABARD promise

Mr. Bopaiah said the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development had agreed to release Rs. 40 lakhs each for the construction and repair of the Singathur-Kopatti-Chettimani road and the Margodu-Hoskeri-Katlekadu-Neerkolli road, both in Madikeri taluk.

It was decided at a recent meeting of the bank in Bangalore.

The works would start soon, Mr. Bopaiah added.
