Kollam
By Our Staff Reporter
KOLLAM, DEC. 23. The Minister for Youth Affairs, A.P. Anilkumar, has said that the yearning by the youth of the State to go elsewhere for earning a livelihood was because of the failure on the part of successive State Governments to give the required attention to the problems faced by the younger generation. He was inaugurating the Kollam district unit of the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) here today. The Minister said that the UDF Government will be making sufficient allocations in the next budget for opening more youth hostels in the State. Facilities at the existing hostels at Kochi, Veli and Kozhikode would be improved. Steps would also be taken to organise the unemployed youth for creating non-governmental organisations on the models of the ayalkoottams for generating more self-employment opportunities. In his presidential address, the Labour Minister, Babu Divakaran said that steps would be taken to allocate suitable land for the construction of YHAI hostel in Kollam.
