KOLLAM, DEC. 23. The district president of the Kerala Congress (B), Manakara Radhakrishnan, announced here today that along with hundreds of party workers, he was quitting the Kerala Congress (B) to join the Kerala Congress (Joseph). At a press conference here today, Mr. Radhakrishnan said that the exodus is in protest against `the autocratic style of functioning of the party leader, R. Balakrishna Pillai.' He said that along with him, the district treasurer of the party, Athikkad Manoj, the Youth Front (B) State general secretary, Puvattoor Surendran, the former YF(B) general secretary, Mavadi Suresh, the KSC(B) State general secretary, Ajay, the KTUC(B) district vice president, V.I. Georgekutty, the YF(B) district general secretary, Varyankala Anil, the KTUC(B) district secretary, Sadanandapuram Vijayakumar and several other Assembly constituency and mandalam level leaders plus ordinary cadres will be joining the Kerala Congress (Joseph).
Quitting party
In a separate statement, the former State vice-president of the Kerala Congress (B), Marykutty George, said that she was also quitting the party to join the Kerala Congress (Joseph). Along with her, the State president of the State Farming Corporation Labour Union and the Pathanapuram mandalam president of the Kerala Congress (B), A. R. Basheer, the KTUC(B) State general secretary, A. Chellappan, the district vice-president of the party, Pattazhi Baby, and more than 1,500 party workers will be joining the Kerala Congress (Joseph). They will be joining the party at a public meeting to be inaugurated here by the chairman of the Kerala Congress (Joseph), P.J. Joseph. The meeting will be presided by the party's working chairman, K.C. Joseph. Other leaders of the party will also attend the meeting.
