PONDICHERRY, DEC. 23. The Pondicherry Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, who is also in charge of the Finance portfolio, has called upon the government departments to fully utilise the funds earmarked for the annual plan. Chairing a meeting held here today to review the implementation of various schemes and also utilisation of funds during the plan (2004-05), Mr. Rangasamy said only three months were left for the financial year to come to an end. Hence steps should be taken to utilise the funds. It was found that as on December 15, Rs. 319.89 crores out of Rs. 615 crores had been spent, marking 52.01 per cent of the allotted amount. The Chief Minister said steps must be taken to implement all assurances given in the House and for infrastructure development in various sectors. The meeting was addressed by Ministers K. Lakshminarayanan (Education), E Valsaraj (Health), M. Chandirakasu (Welfare), K. Elumalai (Local Administration) and A. Namassivayam (Agriculture), the Chief Secretary, C.S. Khairwal, the Secretary to Planning and Finance Department, M. Sathiyavathy, the Development Commissioner, B.V. Selvaraj, the Inspector-General of Police and Heads of various departments.
