Leaders express shock

NELLORE, DEC. 23. Leaders belonging to various political parties on Thursday expressed shock over the passing away of the former Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao.

The former Chief Minister and Visakhapatnam M.P, N. Janardhana Reddy, told this correspondent from New Delhi on phone that PV was a great political statesman and it was because of his initiative that he(NJR) entered national politics. He was known to take bold decisions and led the country on the economic front and took innovative fiscal decisions.

The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, P. Lakshmi, described, PV as `Apara Chanakya' and said his death was an irrevocable loss to the country. She conveyed her sympathies to the members of bereaved family.

In view of PV's death, the Minister's visit to Nellore on Friday has been postponed. The State Minister for Primary Education, N. Rajyalakshmi, in her condolence message, described PV as a noble person and with his demise the party has lost a great leader. The Congress M.L.A, from Nellore, Anam Vivekananda Reddy, recalled PV's distinguished services to Andhra Pradesh and the country.

The Congress M.L.A. from Rapur, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, pointed out as to how the late leader led the nation for 5 years during a critical period and brought stability to the country as well as economy.

The District Congress Committee president, C.V. Sesha Reddy, recalled the land reforms which PV introduced in Andhra Pradesh with great zeal.

The DCC will hold a condolence meeting here on Sunday, he informed.

Former Minister and District Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President,

S. Chandramohan Reddy, recalled the economic excellence displayed by PV and said his demise was a great loss to the country.

The District President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), S. Suresh Reddy, said PV will be known for his economic reforms. The district secretary of Communist Party of India(Marxist), J. Venkaiah, recalled as to how PV held distinguished positions with great dignity and brought laurels to the country. He conveyed his condolences to members of bereaved family.

KURNOOL: The MLA from Allagadda, Gangula Pratap Reddy, condoled the death of P.V. Narasimha Rao.

In a statement, he said Nandyal occupied a prominent place in the heart of P.V. Narasimha Rao, who used to treat the place as his home town.

Mr. Narasimha Rao was instrumental in starting many projects with long-term vision and the benefits of his work were being reaped now.
