THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 23. The Leader of the Opposition, V. S. Achuthanandan, has warned the Government of dire consequences if it did not put an end to its `collusion' with online lottery operators. In a statement today, Mr. Achuthanandan said the Government was feigning ignorance despite his trying to draw its attention to the loss of crores of rupees in tax revenue on account of the evasive tactics of the lottery operators. Since the lottery operators were indulging in a lot of illegal activities, the Government was unlikely to collect the entire tax arrears from them, he said. Mr. Achuthanandan said the allegations that the Chief Minister had organised a cocktail party in New Delhi with the help of online lottery operators also called for serious attention.
