HASSAN, DEC. 23. The District Tourism Development Committee, chaired by the Arkalgud MLA, A.T. Ramaswamy, has resolved to bring out a directory to introduce all the tourist spots in the district. The committee, which met here recently, also resolved to take up development works in all tourist spots after the release of the directory, according to an official press release from the district administration.
Improve infrastructure
The release said that the committee had directed officials concerned to create infrastructure to woo the tourists, including good roads, lodging facilities, drinking water, and erecting sign boards. The local bodies have been instructed to maintain cleanliness at all the tourist sites coming under their jurisdiction. The Sakleshpur MLA, H.M. Vishwanath, said that it was necessary to improve infrastructure at Kadumane, Baagemane, Aramane Gudda, Pandavara Gudda, Malayamarutha, Jenukallubetta, Bisle forest, and Kittanamane falls. Mr. Ramaswamy suggested the construction of a Yatri Nivas in Ramanathapura. Ramanathapura is famous for its temples.
Mahamastakabhisheka
The committee resolved to urge the Union Government to complete the gauge conversion between Hassan-Bangalore in view of the Mahamastakabhisheka scheduled in February 2006. The committee also urged the Government to complete setting up an airstrip in Bhuvanahalli on the outskirts of Hassan. The Hassan MLA, H.S. Prakash; the Arsikere MLA, Basavaraju; and the Assistant Director, Department of Tourism, Aadilakshmi, were present at the meeting.
