Jayachandran, Lekha emerge winners

CHENNAI, DEC. 23. H. Jayachandran (Coimbatore) and Lekha Roy (Chennai) emerged winners in the 100 m race on the opening day of the south zone LIC athletic meet at the Nehru stadium on Wednesday.

The meet was inaugurated by Philomina Thoas, Regional Manager (P and IM). Eleven divisions of the zone (Tamil Nadu and Kerala) are participating in the meet.

The results: (winners only):

Men: 100m: H. Jayachandran (Coimabatore) 10.6 s; 400m: P.S. primesh (Thiruvananthapuram) 50.8s; 1,500m: P. Kasi (Salem) 4m 51s; 5000m: V.N. Anil Kumar (Kozhikode) 17:58.2s; 110m hurdles: S. Sridharan (Thanjavur); 400m hurdles: P. Santhan (Madurai) 60.4s; Triple jump: K.R. Roshan (Ernakulam) 12.57m; Javelin: N. Perumal (Thanjavur) 52.34m; Shot put: G.K. Vijayanand (Thanjavur) 11.26m.

Women: 100m: Lekha Roy (Chennai) 12.8s; 100m hurdles: N. Packyalakshmi (Thanjavur) 21.7s; Longjump: N. Packyalakshmi (Thanjavur) 4.10m.
