BANGALORE, DEC. 23. The Jawahar Sports Club will conduct the State's first floodlit cricket tournament for the KSCA league's top teams predominantly from the first division at the Malleswaram 18th Cross Ground here from Friday. The schedule of the tournament was announced at a press conference here on Wednesday night. The seven-day tournament will consist of day-and-night matches restricted to 25 overs per team. The eight participating teams will compete for the champions' purse of Rs. 15,000 while the players will also gun for the individual honours of the `Best Batsman', `Best Bowler' and `Man of the Match' awards that will also include a HMT watch. However, more than the cricket, the tournament's heart-warming moments will consist of the daily function in which eminent sportsmen from other fields will be honoured. "It will be a unique function and will also represent the sporting culture of Malleswaram," a club official said. The sportsmen who will be honoured are: Ilyas Pasha (football), R. Arun Kumar (ball badminton), M.C. Selva Kumar (basketball), B. Saikumar (table tennis), R. Harish (kabaddi), G. Dilip (basketball) and Arvind Savur (billiards and snooker).
