Nalgonda
By Our Staff Reporter
NALGONDA, DEC.23. The former Congress MLAs who sacrificed their seats for alliance partners in the Assembly elections are making all out efforts to get a berth in the to-be-revived Upper House of the Assembly or a corporation chairman post. One of the party senior leaders and five-time MLA, Palvai Govardhan Reddy, is in the forefront. Given his political connections and the "ultimate political sacrifice" he made by vacating his stronghold -- Munugode -- for the CPI candidate, Mr. Reddy won't find it difficult to get a seat in legislative council, party sources feel. Mr. Reddy, who spearheaded the Telangana movement within the party forum, fought from Munugode seven times and emerged victorious five times. Two former MLAs -- Repala Srinivas (Miryalaguda) and Bharathi Ragya Naik (Devarkonda) -- are also in the race, it is learnt. Neti Vidyasagar (Nakrekal), a staunch supporter of the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, S. Jaipal Reddy, is trying for a corporation post. He played a pivotal role in the landslide victory of Mr. Jaipal Reddy..
`Capital' lobbying
The District Congress Committee president, S. Mallesh Goud, is also lobbying at New Delhi. It may be recalled that Mallesh Goud replaced Vangala Swami Goud, who contested for Miryalaguda Lok Sabha seat on Telugu Desam ticket amid high drama on the last date for filing of nominations. "We had to struggle to keep the morale of the cadre intact following the changed political scenario before the Assembly elections. I am ready to take up any assignment given by the party," Mr. Mallesh, an advocate, told The Hindu .
