MYSORE, DEC. 23. The University of Mysore has decided to set up "Rashtrakavi Kuvempu International Centre for Kannada Software and Technology" to coincide with the birth centenary celebrations of Kuvempu. The centre will make efforts to develop and promote newer software technologies for Kannada. Addressing presspersons here today, the Vice-Chancellor, J. Shashidhar Prasad, said the centre aimed to propel the development of technologies for Kannada for their efficient use in digital medium. He said the centre would identify and acquire the technologies developed by various institutions for the promotion of Kannada.
Technology transfer
Prof. Prasad said the centre would also facilitate technology transfer to industries, non-governmental organisations and end users free of cost and excel as repository for Kannada software technologies.
