TIRUCHI, DEC. 23 . The city today registered a maximum temperature of 30.5 degree Celsius and a minimum of 28.9 degree Celsius.

Death anniversary programme

The All-India Radio will broadcast excerpts from speeches of Periyar E.V.Ramasamy and former Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran, from its archives, at 12.50 p.m. on Friday in commemoration of their death anniversary, according to an AIR release. The broadcast would be available on the first band of Tiruchi AIR.

Training in mushroom cultivation

The Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute, Nabalur Kuttapattu conducted a daylong training programme on oyster mushroom cultivation recently. The Dean of the college, S.Anthony Raj spoke on the occasion and emphasised the significance of mushroom cultivation. The training programme included demonstration sessions by the Head of the Department of Crop Protection, G. Arjunan and the Associate Professor in Plant Pathology, D. Dinakaran.

The programme benefited agriculturists from Vellore, Namakkal and Tiruchi districts. A one-day training programme is being organised on the 20th of each month in the college campus.

Meet on

world peace

The Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya will hold a national conference on `world peace through spiritual wisdom' at Mount Abu, Rajasthan from February 11 to 14.

A release issued by the director of the Tiruchi regional unit of the Brahma Kumaris, B. K. Malika, said the conference was planned for people from different walks of life. Special sessions would be conducted on the topics `how to make life value-based and stress-free', `world transformation through self transformation', `spiritual wisdom for unity of humankind' etc.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur reservoir stood at 88.29 feet today. The inflow was 1,325 cusecs and the discharge 8000 cusecs.
