VIJAYAWADA, DEC. 23. The Machavaram police took into custody on Thursday an auto-rickshaw driver, who allegedly tried to sell the valuables left behind by a customer in his vehicle. The Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime), N.V.Naidu, told newspersons that M. Srilakshmi of Suryaraopet had left a bag with gold ornaments in an auto-rickshaw on June 4. On a tip-off, the police took into custody Uppu Nagulu, 55, while he was trying to dispose of some gold on Thursday. They recovered 12 gold bangles and a sari that were worth Rs 95,000, reportedly lost by Srilakshmi.
