Bus service demanded

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 23 . The CPI Indira Nagar branch committee has demanded the restoration of the Indira Nagar-Karshika College city service.

Dispensary lacks doctors

The Central Government Health Service dispensary in Thiruvananthapuram is lacking adequate number of doctors, the general secretary of the All India Organisation of Pensioners, T. K. Narayanan, said here today. Many of the medical bills of pensioners are pending clearance by the CGHS, he said.

Meet on tourism

New strategies in tourism marketing, eco-tourism and the ill-effects of tourism in developing economies would come up for discussion at a two-day international conference that gets under way here on December 27.

As many as 250 delegates from within the country and abroad will participate in the seminar being organised by the Department of Commerce of the University of Kerala and Alumni Association of the department.

Malaria reported

The District Health Officer, E. K. Madhavan, today said that few cases of Malaria have been reported from among fishermen who went to Mangalapuram from Pozhiyoor. He requested all people returning from visits outside the State to ensure through a medical check up that they do not have malaria.

Body fished out of well

The body of a 12-year-old boy was fished out of the well in the compound of his house at Kallampally near Sreekariyam on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Arun Gopi. The body was being kept at the Medical College Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Rehabilitation demanded

The Kerala Samsthana Kalluchethu Vyavasaya Videshamadya Thozhilali Union has urged the State Government to take immediate steps for the rehabilitation of those rendered jobless in the aftermath of the arrack ban that came into force in the State in 1996.
