The order was passed after a lot of complaints against the factory from the people residing in several localities, including Nehru Colony, Basaveshwar Nagar, Vishweshwaraiah Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Housing Board Colony, Shri Hari Colony, and Patel Nagar, were received. The State Pollution Control Board had passed orders for closure of the factory on Wednesday. Mr. Jayaram has directed the executive engineer of the Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company to stop supplying power to the factory until further orders. He has also instructed the tahsildar to ensure that the factory stopped all its activities. The Inspector for Power has been directed to ensure that the factory did not operate generator sets. The Janata Dal (Secular) leaders in the city had threatened to launch an agitation if authorities concerned failed to initiate action for the closure of the factory and prevent pollution.
