Ranjeet in semifinals

BHIMAVARAM, DEC. 24. Top-seeded V.M. Ranjeet of Tamil Nadu moved into the men's singles semifinal with a 6-2, 6-3 win against R. Narendran of Services in the Cosmopolitan Club all-India ranking tennis tournament here today. Sixth-seeded Arjun Gautam (Karnataka) surprised fourth-seeded Shreyansh Sancheti (MP) 6-3, 6-3 in another quarterfinal.

The results (Men, Quarterfinals): V.M. Ranjeet (TN) bt R. Narendran (Ser) 6-2, 6-3; Arjun Gautam (Kar) bt Shreyansh Sancheti (MP) 6-3, 6-3; Aditya Madkekar (Mah) bt Vijay Sunder Prasanth (TN) 6-4, 6-3; J. Vishnuvardhan (AP) bt Amod Wakalkar (Mah) 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).

Women (Quarterfinals): S. Poonam Reddy (AP) bt Asha Nagendran (Kar) 6-0, 3-6, 6-4; Sandhya Nagaraj (TN) bt Naina Karsolia (UP) 6-2, 6-0; Sheetal Goutam (Kar) bt Bhavani Tirumarthy (TN) 6-1, 6-2; Geeta Manohar (AP) bt M.
