Best Bakery trial

Sir, — The Best Bakery trial case is getting new twists by the day with Zahira Sheikh, a key witness, retracting her statements frequently. One feels Zahira is playing games with the judiciary. However, the truth will come out soon.

Fayyaz S. Pathan,
Mumbai

Sir, — When Zahira said, a few months ago, that she had been coerced into turning hostile in the Vadodara court, which resulted in the acquittal of all the accused in the case, she gained the admiration of all. But recent events have weakened her credibility.

V. Rajesh,
Mumbai

Sir, — The authenticity of the tape provided by Tehelka on the alleged bribe paid to Zahira to change her testimony needs to be checked quickly by an independent agency. If the tape is found to be authentic, the guilty should be charged under the relevant law and court proceedings initiated.

D.B.N. Murthy,
Bangalore

Sir, — Why is Tehelka only after NDA leaders? Why is it not exposing the people in the present ruling conglomerate? Why does it not visit Bihar?

Tirumal Mundargi,
Gulbarga, Karnataka

Sir, — The constant change in stand by witnesses in the trial is causing concern. If found guilty of having changed their stands for monetary gain, they should be severely punished.

N. Venkatesan,
Kyoto, Japan
