Bhopalkar, Shamini in semifinals

MANESAR, DEC. 24. Arpit Bhopalkar defeated Jayant Sarkar in five games to enter the semifinals of the boys ssection in the 66th National junior and inter-State table tennis championship here on Friday.

The results:

Boys (quarterfinals): Arpit Bhopalkar (PSPB`A') bt Jayant Sarkar (CoE) 10-12, 12-10, 11-6, 14-12, 11-9; Soumyajit Sarkar (CoE) bt Sivananda Seshadri (TN) 11-9, 11-6, 11-4, 11-9; Zubin Kumar (PSPB`A') bt Sayan Paul Roy (CoE) 11-8, 11-7, 11-9, 8-11, 11-6; Devesh Karia (PSPB`A') bt Sunil Shetty (Mah `A) 13-11, 10-12, 8-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-5).
