DINDIGUL, DEC. 24. Manipur retained the title in the second junior National girls' under-17 football championship with a 4-0 win over Orissa in the final here on Friday. A minute's silence was observed as a mark of respect to the former Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao, who died on Thursday. Manipur exhibited good team-work with everyone giving her best. But Bala Devi deserves special mention for her hat-trick and she also became the top scorer of the championship with 21 goals. The Dindigul District Collector, S. Murugiah, presided and president, DDFA, G. Sundararajan, gave away the prizes. C.R. Viswanathan, President, Tamil Nadu Football Association and Vice-President AIFF, spoke on the occasion.
