BANGALORE, DEC. 24. The death of illustrious Telugu `bidda,' P.V. Narasimha Rao, cast a shadow on the sixth world Telugu conference of the World Telugu Federation, which began here on Friday. In all, 3,200 delegates from all over the globe and several States had descended on the Garden City, including the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Thursday itself, but the death of the former Prime Minister apparently threw the schedule haywire. With Dr. Reddy rushing to New Delhi and his Karnatak counterpart, Dharam Singh, staying away, organisers were in a quandary. For non-resident Telugus who had travelled thousands of miles for the conference, the exhilaration was evidently evaporating. After much dithering, and much to the relief of all, the conference began late afternoon paying rich tributes to Rao. Quintessential Telugu filmmaker, Bapu, was felicitated on the occasion.
