By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, DEC. 24. A dismissed Delhi police personnel and his accomplice, who were allegedly involved in cases of murder, robbery and kidnapping, were gunned down in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh police at Noida on Thursday. A rifle, which was allegedly snatched from the Dadri police about a month ago, and a pistol were recovered from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off that some criminals would pass through Noida around midnight in a Maruti car, the area police laid a trap in Sector 63. They spotted the vehicle and tried to intercept it upon which the occupants opened fire on them. The police also fired some rounds to contain the culprits.

During the exchange of fire, the police shot down two of the suspects, while two others fled from the scene after abandoning the vehicle. The injured culprits were rushed to a nearby Government hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. The two were identified as Sunder Jat, a dismissed Delhi police constable, and his accomplice, Nagender.
