Foggy days to continue

NEW DELHI DEC. 24. The Capital will wake up to yet another foggy morning on Saturday, the weatherman said. The minimum temperature is expected to hover around 8 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and the minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Friday were 19 degrees Celsius and 8.2 degrees Celsius respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum of 16.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 7.9 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and the minimum relative humidity at Safdarjung was 97 per cent and 61 per cent respectively. Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 100 per cent, while the minimum humidity was 79 per cent.

Two suicide cases reported

NEW DELHI DEC. 24. A 16-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling in his house at Janakpuri in West Delhi on Friday night.

According to the police, Lakshya, a resident of B-Block Janata Flats in Janakpuri, was found hanging by his family members last night. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Lakshya, a student of Class XI, had failed in his examinations last year. This year too he was apparently not satisfied with the preparations and was passing through a phase of depression.

In another incident, a 30-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in her house at Subhash Nagar in West Delhi yesterday. The woman, identified as Manjeet Kaur, was alone in the house as her husband had gone to Chennai for some work. Preliminary investigations revealed that this was Manjeet's second marriage.

The West Delhi police are further looking into both the incidents.

Held for pirating CDs

NEW DELHI DEC. 24. Three persons have been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi police for allegedly manufacturing and supplying pirated digital video discs, compact discs and inlay cards to various markets in the Capital. According to the police, investigations following some recent arrests led the police to a person involved in manufacturing pirated DVDs with the help of DVD writers. The accused, identified as Vikas Sharma, was arrested from his hideout at Shahdara and several pirated DVDs, CDs and pornographic CDs were recovered. At his instance, the police arrested Ashwani Dhingra and Vicky Malhotra.
