HYDERABAD, DEC. 25. The `Rajiv Nagara Baata' on which the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will embark from Rajendranagar municipality on January 2, will be conceptually different from the recently-concluded rural version. While the `Rajiv Palle Baata' was essentially a programme aimed at getting feedback from the rural folk on shortcomings in the Government's performance impacting their daily life, the urban programme will be people-participatory. At least a week ahead of the Chief Minister's visit to a municipality, local people will be asked to identify problems in their area. The locals will also be encouraged in planning out solutions to these problems. When Dr. Reddy visits a particular town, he will get first hand knowledge of the problem, discuss it with officials and the local citizens and sanction funds whenever necessary. According to an official, the concept behind `Nagara Baata' is also to develop a civic sense among people and motivate them to come out with solutions to their long-standing grievances. Dr. Reddy's proposed visit to the towns has a political dimension too since municipal elections are scheduled to be held next year.
