KHAMMAM, DEC. 25. Two persons died in separate accidents in the district on Saturday. K. Simha Raghava, a college student died, as the motorcycle he was riding, was hit by a tourist bus, near Jeellacheruvu village under the Kusumanchi police station limits, in the early hours. Two others injured in the accident were shifted to a hospital. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Lorry driver dies
In another accident, a lorry driver, K. Shankar, 25, died when the lorry he was driving collided head-on with another lorry coming in the opposite direction, near Konijerla village. One of the lorries was proceeding from Kakinada to Hyderabad with palmolein oil packets. Following the accident, the oil packets lay scattered on the road. Seizing the opportunity people from nearby villages took away the packets home.
Youth arrested
The Khammam police arrested a youth for allegedly misbehaving with a girl near a telephone booth, in the Two Town limits on Saturday. The girl lodged a complaint with the police seeking protection. Earlier, people in the neighbourhood thrashed the youth and handed him over to the police. The police have launched a special drive against eve teasing. Policemen in plainclothes were deployed in centres where the problem was rampant.
