Training for teachers

KOCHI, DEC. 25. A `Software Examination' training class for heads of higher secondary schools in the Ernakulam Educational District will be held on Monday at different centres, according to the District Educational Officer, Baby Ushakiran M.S. The classes for teachers from Ernakulam and Mattancherry sub-educational districts will be held at the Ernakulam Girls Higher Secondary School, while the classes for teachers from Thripunithura and Vypeen sub-districts will be held at the North Gate Computer Centre, Ernakulam North. The classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All the heads of higher secondary schools in the District are expected to attend the classes.

Death anniversary observed

The All Kerala Social and Cultural Charitable Society observed the 13th death anniversary of K. Kunjambu, former Minister, KPCC vice- president and State president of the Bharatiya Adhakritha Varga League. Damodaran Kalassery, former Minister, inaugurated the meeting and Malippuram Bhaskaran presided over it. Sajeevan K.R.; Vijayan V.P.; Sukumaran V.P.; K.K. Soman; A.A. Unni; T.K. Vallon and Chandramathi also spoke on the occasion.

Hearing on Kariyadu

The State Human Rights Commission will conduct a hearing on Tuesday regarding the issue of accident occuring frequently at the curve on the National Highway-47 at Kariyadu. The hearing will be held at the Collectorate Conference Hall at 10 a.m., according to Mathew Paul, president, Greater Cochin Development Council.

Sastra Sadas begins

The `Sastra Sadas-2004,' organised by the Centre for Research and Higher Studies, Government College of Sanskrit, Thripunithura with the assistance of the Sree Sanakara University of Sanskrit, Kalady, will be held from Sunday to Wednesday. The `sadas' will begin on Sunday with various competitions for school and college students. K.E. Govindacharya, Vice- Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Samsthan, Deemed University, Tirupati will inaugurate the programmes on Monday and K.G. Paulose, former Registrar of the Sanskrit University, will preside over the programme. K.T. Madhavan and K.S. Meenambal will offer felicitations. On Tuesday, homages will be paid to the late Trikovil Achuta Warriar, former principal of Govt. Sanskrit College, Thripunithura. The sessions will conclude on Wednesday evening.

Koodiyattom performance

A performance of `Balivadham' Koodiyattom will be held at the Government Sanskrit College Auditorium, Thripunithura on Monday evening. Ammannur Kuttan Chakyar will portray Bali and Ammannur Rajaneesh Chakyar will don the role of Sugreevan.
