This Day That Age
The Yugoslav President, Marshal Tito, merrily joined the hill folk of Himachal Pradesh in an open air dance at Theog village, 18 miles from Simla, on December 25. Before he walked into the sunbathed arena, Marshal Tito watched from a high dais parties of dancers giving their best numbers in the crisp morning air. As a group of men dancers were giving the highly rhythmic Diwali dance, Marshal Tito, who was constantly busy with his camera, got down to join them. Many members of Marshal Tito's party as well as the Lieutenant Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Major-General Himmatsinhji, wearing colourful hillmen's caps, had preceded him into the arena and tried steps with the dancers. Later, Marshal Tito presided over the fancy dress carnival of the Ice-skating Club of Simla. Marshal Tito was so impressed with the function, one of the most colourful held in recent years, that he announced a donation of Rs. 500 to the Club.
