KOLKATA, DEC. 26. Tamil Nadu brightened its semifinal chances by taking a 91-run first innings lead over Punjab on the second day of the quarterfinal of the Under-15 cricket for the Poly Umrigar Trophy here today. Opener L. Suryaprakash scored a patient 124 with 19 fours to help Tamil Nadu make 269 in reply to Punjab's 178. Suryaprakash, who had shared a 96-run opening wicket stand with Abhinav Mukund (40), was the last man to be dismissed. With only a day's action remaining, it looks unlikely that Punjab would be able force an outright win.
