Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Majlis-e-Shura's declaration of Zahira Sheikh, key witness in the Best Bakery case, as a `dissembler,' and her "ouster" from the Muslim community are unfortunate. What is the point in ex-communicating a young woman who is under tremendous pressure from political heavyweights? She has allegedly received threats and has been lured by monetary offers; these are situations under which anyone can slip.
Manzar Imam,
* * * Sir, Did the leaders who have taken such a drastic step against Zahira do anything to protect her or rehabilitate her? For over two years, she and her family have been under immense pressure and threats. The community leaders should remember that.
M.A. Gaffar,
