ERODE, DEC.27 . The Gobichettipalaym Sub-Collector, S. Samayamurthy, distributed community certificates to 17 school children belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community. The children, studying in Karumbarai and Valayapalayam panchayat elementary schools at Dhoddakombai tribal area in Sathyamangalam, were given the certificates following instructions from the Collector, D. Karthikeyan. Mr. Samayamurthy, who recently visited the tribal settlement, reviewed the development works undertaken there. He also visited Perumugai, Kanakkampalayam, Punjaithuraiyampalayam and Kongarpalayam settlements where the people of the `Oorali'(STs) community lived. He assured them that medical staff from the Primary Health Centres would visit the settlement once a week and offer treatment. The Sub-Collector also granted old age pension to two aged persons with effect from December 1. He inspected the site where five group houses would be constructed for the tribal people in Karumbarai. Mr. Samayamurthy visited the `single teacher' school where 46 tribal children had been admitted under the "Education- to-All" programme. They appealed to the Sub-Collector to develop the roads in Dhoddakombai. He assured the villagers that the 10 km. Dhoddakombai road would be improved and a fair price shop opened.
