HYDERABAD, DEC. 27. The Chairman, Clearing Corporation of India, R.H. Patil, on Monday called for stringent regulatory framework for the Government securities market in the country. Delivering the keynote address at a two-day conference on `Business and Finance - 2004', organised by ICFAI University and Philadelphia University here on Monday, he dealt on the subject `New Frontiers of Research in Finance' and said unlike in the equities market, fluctuations in the securities market could badly affect interest rates. Researchers should come up with micro and macro versions of their reports to help strengthen regulatory mechanisms and curb volatility in the markets. The Vice-Chancellor, ICFAI University, Subhash Sarnikar, presided. Conferring degrees at bachelors, masters and doctoral levels, the university was developing a new cadre of competent professionals, while being committed to ethical and professional conduct, he said.
Objectives
The objective was to bring together academicians and practitioners in finance, accounting and business management, said D.K. Malhotra of Philadelphia University. He said the collaboration between universities was facilitating strong networking among researchers in India and USA. The conference will see presentation of unpublished findings on Asset Pricing, Capital Markets, Corporate Finance, Banking and Insurance, Derivatives and Risk Management, International Finance, Financial Reporting, Corporate Disclosure Practices and Forensic Accounting.
Awards
Three Best Paper Awards, comprising a citation and cash prize, will be given away, apart from ICFAI University's Award for Young Researcher in Finance.
