HYDERABAD, DEC. 27. The CPI (ML) Janashakti has called upon its cadre and public organisations to actively participate in providing relief to tidal wave-hit people in the State.

Amar, secretary of the party, said in a press release here on Monday that clothes, food and cash could be collected from people for the benefit of the victims. He suggested to the organisations to ensure that the Government assistance was not diverted.

The AITUC AP Council appealed to its cadre to extend assistance to the needy in consultation with the administration. P.J.Chandrasekhar Rao, general secretary, conveyed his condolences to bereaved families.

Meanwhile, the State Organising Committee of the Socialist Unity Centre of India described as tardy the relief measures taken by the State Government. It should have started relief/rehabilitation on a war footing, said K. Sridhar, secretary, in a press release.

The AP Rythu Sangham urged the Government to provide employment to fishermen who were worst hit by the tidal waves. B. Tulasidas, president, and S. Malla Reddy, secretary, called for expeditious assistance to farmers involved in making salt along the coast from Srikakulam to Nellore.
