dated December 28, 1954: Poll for Peace Prize

Dr. Albert Scheweitzer, the scientist, won over Pope Pius XII and Prime Minister Nehru of India in a public opinion poll conducted by a Frankfurt eveninger on the question, "Whom would you give the Peace Prize of 1954." Far less votes went to Dr. Konrad Adenauer, the West German Chancellor, M. Pierre Mendes-France, the French Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill and Sir Anthony Eden.
