Protest march for employment

By Our Special Correspondent

GULBARGA, DEC. 27. Members of the four industrial training centres of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (KPTCL) and the All India Students' Federation (AISF) today took out a semi-nude procession here to draw the attention of the State Government to the problems faced by them.

The members of the centres, who have been on hunger strike for the past 13 days demanding that the Government lift the ban on recruitment and clear a proposal pending with the Finance Department to fill 2,500 vacant posts in Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd and electricity supply companies, urged the Government to provide them employment.

Twenty agitating members have been admitted to the government hospital here as their health deteriorated.

A group of five members are on hunger strike now.

They rejected the request by the district administration to call off their strike and made it clear that they will continue it till their demands are met.
