KOTTAYAM, DEC. 27. The Nair Service Society (NSS) has cancelled the celebrations organised in connection with the 90th anniversary (Navathy) till December 31. In a press release, the NSS general secretary, P. K. Narayana Panicker, today said the celebrations have been cancelled as a mark of respect and solidarity with the anguish experienced by thousands of people who were hit by disaster. The NSS and the community stand by the victims and would extend all help, he said. Mr. Panicker asked the members of the community to join the rehabilitation and relief operations. However, there will be no change in the programmes scheduled for January 2 in connection with Mannam Jayanthy celebrations, he said.
