INSAT PICTURE AT 11-30 hrs. Observations recorded at 8-30 a.m. on Dec. 27.
The columns show maximum and minimum temperature in Celsius, rainfall during last 24 hours (tr-trace) and total rainfall in mm since Oct. 1, 2004. Dry weather prevails over T.N. CHENNAI, DEC. 27. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Tamil Nadu and dry weather prevailed over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep. The minimum temperature rose appreciably to markedly at a few places over Tamil Nadu, rose at one or two places over rest of Tamil Nadu, fell appreciably at one or two places over north Kerala, fell at one or two places over rest of Kerala and changed a little elsewhere over the region. They were appreciably below normal at one or two places over coastal Karnataka, north interior Karnataka, below normal at a few places over Rayalaseema, north interior Tamil Nadu, appreciably above normal at one or two places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, above normal at a few places over Telangana, rest of Tamil Nadu, rest of coastal Andhra Pradesh and were generally normal over the rest of the region. Arogyavaram and Gadag recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 13 degree Celsius in the plains of the region. FORECAST (valid until Wednesday morning): Isolated light rain is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and south Kerala and mainly dry weather prevail over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, north Kerala and Lakshadweep. Tsunami Warning: Due to the earthquake which occurred over Sumatra region and Carnicobar Islands area yesterday, tsunamis (tidal waves of height upto 10 metres) likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala coast during the next 24 hours. Earthquake Report: An earthquake of moderate intensity having its magnitude 6.5 on the Richter scale occurred at 0952 a.m. IST on Monday with its epicentre at Latitude 7.3 deg. North Longitude 92.7 deg. East off coast of great Nicobar region. Outlook For Subsequent Two Days: No significant change.
