Whatmore happy with team's progress

DHAKA, DEC. 27. Bangladesh's coach Dav Whatmore said he was happy with the progress his side made during the series. "I know India was not in full strength in the second one-dayer, but it was nevertheless strong opposition for us," said the Australian.

Referring to the series-decider Whatmore said, "This match was a great effort. It was the sort of strong effort that will win you matches even against other teams. The way we fought when we bowled and fielded made me very proud."

About the series in general he said, "It was a very enjoyable series. It helped that we had a common viewing room in Chittagong. Here in Dhaka, the dressing rooms are quite close to each other. The series was played in good spirit. I think it helps that there are good friends on both sides."

Whatmore said he was looking forward to the coming series against Zimbabwe in January. "Mashrafe Mortaza has made a strong comeback and Khaled Mahmud has found some form as well. The series (Zimbabwe) can't come quick enough, we want to play tomorrow."

Man of the Match Virender Sehwag said he was upset at not getting runs in the last three innings against Bangladesh prior to this one. "We were very upset at losing the second match to Bangladesh. We don't deserve to lose to Bangladesh. We came here with a very positive mind and were ready to give them a good total if we batted first. We decided we would not give them any chance to come back in this game."

Man of the Series Md. Kaif said he was happy with his form. "I have been hitting the ball well. It started from England I guess. I've kept my rhythm going in the nets." — Our Principal Correspondent
