PONDICHERRY, DEC. 27. A team of doctors from JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research) will hold special medical camps tomorrow at the tsunami-hit Kuruchikuppam and Periya Kalapet hamlets. The JIPMER acting director and medical superintendent, K.S. Reddy, said here today that each of the two teams consisting of six doctors and equipped with ambulances, medicines and drugs would camp at the villages. Patients requiring intense medical attention would be shifted to nearby hospitals. Dr. Reddy said already the doctors, headed by the Deputy Director General of Health Services, New Delhi, S. Badrinath, conducted camps at Pillaichavady, Kalapet and Kanagachettykulam and examined the health condition of the people. The team also visited the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences on Sunday.
