Sajjan finds a villain in DDA

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, DEC. 27. The Delhi Development Authority is now on the hit list of the Outer Delhi strongman, Sajjan Kumar. In a letter to the Union Urban Development Minister, Gulam Nabi Azad, Mr. Kumar, the Congress Member of Parliament from Outer Delhi, has charged that DDA was busy minting money developing and auctioning commercial shops and complexes in newly developed colonies instead of concentrating on its social objectives.

At a press conference here, Mr. Kumar said he also raised the issue of problems being created by DDA in Delhi due to its working style with the Consultative Committee of the Urban Development Ministry last week.

"Residents are greatly aggrieved over the unnecessary acquisition of land by DDA," he said. He urged DDA to construct small kiosks and stalls in colonies developed by it so that it could be allotted to the unemployed youths. "This would be the right step for the welfare of the economically weaker sections of society," he said.
