THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 27. The Met authorities here today recorded three aftershocks of Sunday morning's massive undersea quake off Sumatra. The shocks were recorded at 12.30 p.m., 3.15 p.m. and 5.34 p.m. A warning has been issued that due to aftershocks, waves of a height up to 10 metres are likely to strike the Kerala coast during the period up to 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Fishermen have been advised against venturing out to sea as the waters would be very rough. A Met official said the Sumatra quake had been recorded on the seismograph here and the recording communicated to the Met authorities in Delhi. It was for the central authorities to have fixed the location of the quake and issued a tsunami warning immediately on noting that it was an undersea quake, he added. He pointed out that there is no tsunami monitoring or warning system for quakes that occur in the Indian Ocean.
